Definition
The customer journey is the sequence of stages and interactions a person goes through with a business: discovering it, evaluating it, signing up, getting value and, ideally, staying and recommending it. A customer journey map draws those stages and what the customer does and needs at each.
Typical stages
Discover → evaluate → sign up → activate → build a habit → expand → advocate.
Measuring the journey
Each stage can be marked by an event, so the map can be measured as a funnel. Where most people stop is where to work first. See user journey mapping with real event data.
