llms.txt checker

Fetch or paste an llms.txt and check it against the llmstxt.org format, link by link.

How it works

llms.txt is a Markdown file at the root of a site that points AI agents to the pages that matter. The format, from llmstxt.org: an H1 with the site's name (the only required part), an optional blockquote summary, optional text without headings, then H2 sections that each hold a list of links written as - [Title](URL): notes.

The checker reports errors (anything that breaks that structure) and warnings (things that work but could be better, such as relative or http links, empty sections and duplicates).

Questions

Does Google use llms.txt?

llms.txt is a proposal, not a search ranking signal, and Google has not said it uses it for Search. Its readers are AI agents and coding assistants that look for it when they visit a site.

Where should llms.txt live?

At /llms.txt on your site. Version 2 of the proposal also allows one under a path, such as /docs/llms.txt, covering the pages below it.
