What is digital adoption?

The degree to which people use a digital product or tool to its full intended value.

Updated

Definition

Digital adoption is how fully people use a digital product: not just whether they log in, but whether they use the features that deliver its value. The term is common for software that companies roll out to their own staff, and for products that need to be learned.

How to measure it

  • Breadth: share of users who used each key feature.
  • Depth: how often they use it.
  • Proficiency: completing tasks without errors or help.

Track key features as events with a user ID; adoption and frequency per feature follow. See feature adoption rate.
