Definition
Mobile analytics measures how people install, use and return to a mobile app: sessions, screens, actions, purchases and retention. It works like product analytics, with a few app-specific concerns.
What's different on mobile
- Sessions begin when the app comes to the foreground.
- App versions: behaviour should be broken down by version, since users update at different times.
- Offline use: events must be queued and sent later.
- Store purchases: confirm them on your server from the store's receipt.
What to track
Sign-up, session start, the core actions, paywall views and subscriptions, each with a user ID. See mobile app metrics.
