Definition
A pageview is recorded each time a page loads in a browser, or, in a single-page app, each time the route changes. It's the basic unit of web analytics.
Pageviews aren't people
One person can make many pageviews, and automated browsers make pageviews too. Raw pageview counts can be far higher than the number of people behind them.
Better measures
- Visitors: distinct people, not loads.
- People: visitors who interacted with the page, a sign that a person was there.
- Engaged visits: visits with scrolling, clicks or time on page.
LogZuno records pageviews with its website script and reports people separately from unconfirmed and automated visitors; see web analytics.
