Definition
Growth hacking is an approach that runs many small, fast experiments across marketing, product and sales to find the cheapest ways to acquire, activate and retain users. The term came from early-stage startups with little budget.
In practice
- Pick one metric to grow, such as activation rate.
- List ideas, estimate their impact and effort.
- Run the best ones as experiments, measure them and keep what works.
What makes it work
Measurement. Without events and funnels, experiments can't be judged, and "growth hacks" become guesses. Grow the metrics that matter (activation, retention), not easy totals.
